Pro Heart (Hridayasparsham) - LET THE HEART BEATS BE HEARD
Pro Heart is the first initiative of Care and Share International Foundation. The programme focuses on paediatric cardiology. As of 2008, there are about 30,000 paediatric cardiology cases pending at various hospitals in Kerala. Insufficient funds are the main reason for the delay in carrying out treatment. Each operation costs around one lakh twenty five thousand rupees. Care and Share International Foundation conducts cardiac surgeries for children who cannot meet the cost of treatment due to financial difficulties. The selection of these children is purely on the basis of urgency of the treatment as decided by a panel of experienced paediatric cardiologists.
Care and Share International Foundation celebrated its successful completion of 150th paediatric cardiac surgery in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Speaking on the occasion, the CM opined that 'Hridayasparsham' is a great initiative by Padma Shri Mammootty and his Care & Share team and it’s a perfect plan for all who like to do similar humanitarian activities in the society. He also expressed his satisfaction that the project has been able to support so much of people from different strata of the society and help them to get back to normal life.
The surgeries under this project are being conducted at leading hospitals in Kerala by surgeons with immense experience in paediatric cardiology. Care and Share International Foundation has conducted above 200 surgeries till date and the programme continues to progress at a good pace. But still several crores of rupees will be required to treat all the deserving applicants. You are requested to make your kind contributions towards the success of Hridayasparsham (Pro Heart). Under the Hridayasparsham project, Care and Share International Foundation has conducted heart disease detection camps in several districts of Kerala. The organisation conducted these camps with an intention to extend its reach to the children in rural areas. The selected children from these camps had undergone cardiac surgeries. All these camps are being conducted under the direct supervision of Care & Share International Foundation’s Managing Director Rev. Fr. Thomas Kurian Marottipuzha.
